Barclays analyst: iPhone Fold (iPhone Ultra) may launch after iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max

The iPhone Fold (iPhone Ultra) could arrive substantially later than the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max. Barclays analyst Tim Long made this claim in a note to investors.

According to Long, the foldable iPhone is unlikely to launch in September alongside the new Pro models. Instead, it may be released several months later, potentially in December. Apple normally unveils all its major new devices at the same time. However, there is a precedent: the iPhone X, which was also an entirely new kind of product for Apple at the time, reached the market in November 2017, while the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were introduced in September as usual.

Earlier rumours are also being reinforced: the standard iPhone 18 may not be released in autumn at all, with its launch instead expected in spring 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e and Air 2. Interestingly, the analyst suggests that Apple could bring back the Plus model, although that would be rather odd.
